Rash Of Vehicle Thefts In Quesnel

Five separate stolen vehicles in a span of just 17 hours.

That’s what Quesnel RCMP were dealing with between July 23 at 11:30 pm and July 24 at 4:30 pm.

And in many cases, the victims left their keys and other valuables inside their vehicles.

RCMP say all five vehicles stolen have been recovered and are being processed for additional evidence.

Two of the vehicles were recovered with the assistance of Williams Lake RCMP and one was recovered with the assistance of the Prince George RCMP with the other two vehicles being recovered by Quesnel RCMP.

Quesnel Crime Reduction Unit members also recovered an unoccupied pickup, reported stolen from Prince George earlier in the week.

The pickup is being processed for forensic evidence by the Quesnel RCMP Property Crime Examiner.

A total of nine people were arrested in the five stolen vehicles, with the potential for additional people to be arrested pending further investigation.

The Quesnel RCMP continues to work closely with the surrounding RCMP Detachments in combatting property crime and this was displayed yesterday with the success of having all these criminals located and arrested, says Staff Sergeant Andrew Burton, Quesnel Detachment Commander.
