Violent Crime Index Still High For Williams Lake

Williams Lake is still 4th in Canada when it comes to the violent crime index released by Stats Canada.

The figure for 2017 is 288.34 violent crimes per 100 thousand people.

Thompson, Manitoba is number one in the country followed by North Battleford, Saskatchewan and then Wetaskiwin, Alberta.

When it comes to the crime severity index, the Lake City comes in at number 7 with 218.57 per 100 thousand which is down from 4th in 2016.

Quesnel has a violent crime index of 149.12 which is down from almost 215 in 2016.

The overall crime severity index is 214.04.

Both Quesnel and 100 Mile House aren’t ranked however as Stats Canada only tracks those numbers for cities with populations over 10,000.

The only numbers available for 100 Mile are rural, which puts them quite a bit lower.

The Violent Crime index is 63.99 per 100 thousand, down from 129, while the overall crime severity index is 57.74, down from 77 in 2016.
