Low snowpacks not a good predictor of fire season

Little snowfall will have no influence on the 2015 fire season.
Fire Information Officer with the Cariboo Fire Centre, Emily Koch says snow pact levels are often misconceived as an indicator of the season ahead.
Koch says the Center responded to 160 wildfires last season, which is below their 10 year average of 249.
She says on a provincial scale there were also fewer fires, although many of them challenged fire suppression efforts through their sheer size and exhibited aggressive fire behavior.
360,000 hectares of land was consumed by wildfires across the province last year making it the 3rd highest record in B.C’s history.
