BC Water Ski Provincial Championships Wrap Up At Chimney Lake

With a full shoreline, the 2018 BC Water Ski Provincials wrapped up Sunday outside of Williams Lake.

“It was phenomenal,” says Parnell Pinette, Vice President of Water Ski Wakeboard BC of the provincials held at Chimney Lake.

“We’ve held tournaments here and we’ve held provincials here before, and the amount of work you put in then mother nature; you have to leave it up to her and we finally got the weather we thought we deserved-it was amazing.”

“Awesome turnout from not only the athletes but by the spectators in town.”

On schedule and time, the Provincials concluded at 3:30 pm and saw 5 teams of 2 take part in the money jump with Joel Poland from England who is the overall junior world champion and his teammate placing first, followed by Conley Pinette and his teammate at second.

“I ended up qualifying with my middle son Lucas and we ended up coming fifth so everyone got money,” says Pinette.

“It was great.”

Full results from this weekend’s Water Ski Provincials will be posted later this weekend.

“I believe they would love for us to host it again. It’s just a matter of the time and effort to do it,” says Pinette noting there was a lot of technology used to measure the jumps and a lot of work to have a site set up to be capable to host.

“Once again Williams Lake and the support from the businesses is amazing. We had such good support to make it happen.”
