Coastal Fire Centre Monitoring Lightning Caused Fire At Klinaklini River

A remote fire is burning in steep terrain at the headwaters of the north Klinaklini River approximately 70 kilometers west of Kleena Kleene and Highway 20.

“At this time it’s 8 hectares in size,” says Coastal Fire Centre information officer Natasha Broznitsky.

“Coastal Fire Centre is monitoring it and at this time it’s an appropriate fire for a modified response so essentially it’s being monitored for growth within natural boundaries. If growth occurs outside an intended area then the fire will be reassessed.”

While smoke may be visible in areas to the east of the fire Broznitsky says there is no threat to communities or structures at this time.

The fire lightning-caused fire was discovered on Wednesday.
