Quesnel City Councillor Won’t Be Seeking Re-election

There will be at least one new face on Quesnel City Council following the municipal elections in October.

Ed Coleman has announce that he won’t be running again.

He says it was a positive experience, it’s just time to move on…

“It’s been 7 years, two terms, two really hard working Mayors, lots of positive projects, lots of challenges that we worked through, but it’s been great and I’ve got other interests, i will still be supporting Barkerville and Cottonwood as i am now, i will be putting my energy into that.

Coleman is currently the CEO of Barkerville.

He says he is proud of the long term planning that they were able to put together during his time on Council…

“The biggest thing for me was the long term planning, so the Our Quesnel process, and then watching that 50 year plan turn into an actual implementation plan. And the staff and the city have been fantastic for that, so all the things that are happening now, all the catching up on infrastructure issues, the arena, the other plans for the pool and the gymnastics centre and the arts centre, so the plans are there and now it’s just getting it done.”

Coleman says he hoping for a positive vote on the referendum to build a new Public Works facility as well.

He is also encouraging others to run for Council.
