Central Cariboo Search and Rescue Activated for Missing Person Near Yunesit’in First Nation

Members with the Central Cariboo Search and Rescue were being activated Wednesday afternoon to a report of a missing woman west of Williams Lake.

“She’s been missing since last night about 20 kilometers southwest of Yunesit’in (Stone Reserve) First Nation,” said unit Chief Rick White.

“We’re just activating and getting crews together from Williams Lake and possibly Prince George. We have also placed calls to 100 Mile and Quesnel,-we’re waiting to hear back.”

A team of five is currently being sent out and another team will be sent at 6:30.

“Then we will re-evaluate late tonight to see what the plan is,” said White.

“PEP (Provincial Emergency Program) Air has been activated from Williams Lake and they should be in the air I assume about by 4:30.”

The search comes after CCSAR said it was activated for a missing person Tuesday near the Rudy Johnson Bridge.

That person was located safe and sound.

“The person was found not in the river but way higher up in the bush so that task ended well,” White said.
