Performing Arts Centre In Quesnel Back On The Agenda Of Joint Planning Committee

A feasibility study for a performing arts centre in Quesnel will be on the agenda of tonight’s North Cariboo Joint Committee meeting.

A study was done back in 2005 and this new study will review that as well as outline the current environment for a facility as well as the economic benefit and the value of cultural development.

The study looks at a 450-seat performing arts centre as well as what the next steps might be.

Also on the agenda is a new agreement for the Quesnel Kangaroos Senior Hockey club and some options to control the air temperature in the new West Fraser Centre during the summer months.

The building currently utilizes heat pumps to provide air conditioning in the downstairs lobby, offices, and in the meeting rooms, but no mechanical refrigeration was included for the larger arena space including the floor and spectator areas.

The cost to install mechanical refrigeration in the dehumidification unit for the arena and spectator areas is estimated to be $75 to $100,000.
