Open House A Community Thank You From The 150 Mile House Fire Department

They had the welcome mat laid out for residents of 150 Mile House.

This past Saturday, the 150 Mile HouseĀ Fire Department held an open house with everything from a barbecue to a firefighter challenge.

Fire Chief Stan McCarthy explains the reason for the event.

ā€œIt was the one year anniversary of the start of the fires last year so we thought that we would thank the community by holding a barbecue and again, thank the community for the help during the firesā€.

McCarthy remembers when the Wildfires started a year ago saying he was at the Fire Hall for 4 months and didn’t work a day under 12-hours.

McCarthy says he’s really proud of his department and how hard they worked on the fires.

The 150 Mile Fire Department also received a generous donation of a truck that Spectra Energy was no longer using.

Chief McCarthy talked about how it will be utilized by his department.

ā€œWe’re going to turn it into our duty truck so we can use it for our duty officers that will use it during the week. And if we need to travel to training or something out of town we can take that vehicle or we can haul equipment out to a fire or whatever we needā€.

Members from the Williams Lake, Miocene, Lac La Hache, Horsefly and Mcleese Lake Fire Departments were on hand this past Saturday at the open house to say thanks toĀ the residents of the CommunityĀ for theirĀ help during last years Wildfires.
