July 7th marks the day the evacuations began for the area surrounding the Gustafsen fire near 100 Mile House.
Al Richmond, CRD area G director, who was CRD Chair last summer, reflected on the legacy of the event.
“It was a fast moving event, and things happened very quickly. Moving forward, I thing the public is more aware and better prepared. More things have to be done, of course. We see more people cleaning up their properties and thats a positive. Thats something everyone can do.”
Richmond says he’s thankful for all the partners and volunteers who came together last year.
