Trial Date Set For Man Accused Of Hitting Horse And Buggy With His Vehicle

A 35-year old man, accused of driving his vehicle into a horse and buggy in the Bridge Lake area, will go to trial in the fall.

Richard Mowat is due back in court on September 14th.

He’s facing several charges including Assault with a Weapon, Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm and Possession of a Prohibited FIrearm.

100 Mile House RCMP say there was an altercation over animals back on June 3rd and that one of the men left the scene but then returned in his vehicle.

Police say he is then accused of driving into the other party’s horse and buggy, throwing them into the ditch.

RCMP say another altercation ensued between the two and that the first man then said he would return with firearms.

Police say the suspect was arrested on the road in his vehicle, and that a search of his residence revealed a number of firearms that were then seized.
