Severe Thunderstorm Watch Ended for the Cariboo

A severe thunderstorm watch did not dampen the turnout Saturday morning to the Williams Lake Stampede Parade.

Hundreds lined the streets to watch the parade that featured numerous floats and vehicles as dark clouds covered the sky and periods of light rain fell.

Environment Canada issued a severe watch in effect for the Cariboo including Williams Lake and Quesnel before the Parade started

“An unstable airmass over the central interior of BC will give scattered thunderstorms this afternoon,” stated an alert.

” Most of the storms are expected to be non-severe, but there is a slight risk of large hail.”

Showers or thunderstorms are expected to continue throughout the day and into Sunday.
