BC AdventureSmart is all about helping reduce the number and severity of Search and Rescue calls in the Province.

Executive Director Sandra Riches explains the reason why her organization be holding a volunteer-presenter training workshop at the Central Cariboo Search and Rescue Base in Williams Lake.

‘We working closely with all search and rescue groups so that group is one of eighty and we worked closely with the members to put on this training event and they support what we do and my focus as executive director and the staff that travel around is to help those search and rescue volunteers stay home a little bit more”.

Riches said the focus of the workshop is about increasing awareness of community members interested in outdoor recreation safety and to be able to pass that on to schools, workplaces, hiking clubs and outdoor groups.
