Wildfire Discovered Near Tatla Lake Fully Contained

A wildfire near Tatla Lake is fully contained after having grown Tuesday evening to approximately 50 hectares in size.

“Currently the BC Wildfire Service does have 25 firefighting personnel on the scene of that fire with support from some heavy equipment,” says Fire Information Officer Ryan Turcot.

“No further spread is anticipated for this fire at this time.”

The cause of the fire has not been determined as of yet and Turcot says they are sending out fire cause origin investigators.

A wildfire meanwhile near Buffalo Creek that was also discovered Tuesday was responded to a local fire department in the area.

“With current weather patterns we are expecting a pretty high likelihood of more lightning today across many parts of the province including the Cariboo so that is something the BC Wildfire Service will be keeping a close eye on,” says Turcot.

Since April 1st there have been a total of 30 wildfires in the Cariboo Fire Centre 12 of which were caused by lightning and 12 that were human-caused.
