Open house at Community Futures in Williams Lake to launch new training support program

Businesses and not-for-profit organizations impacted by last summer’s wildfires will learn how they can access  financial support for training.

An open house to launch the new Wildfire Business Transition project will be held today (June 20) at Community Futures in Williams Lake.

Coordinator for the Wildfire Recovery Program Sue Lachance explains what the program’s about

“It provides targeted support to small businesses and communities due to the wildfires. Businesses and not-for-profit organizations will be able to access up to ten thousand dollars in financial support for training through this new program”.

Lachance says this new training program came about because many businesses lost employees due to the wildfires and that there was a need for monies to help re-train employees and employers.

“There is an application process, and if they are a not-for-profit, have less than fifty employees, and make less than 250 thousand dollars in net profit, then there are eligible to apply”.

Today’s open house at Community Futures runs from 10 am until 2 pm. The deadline to apply for the training support program is December 31st.
