More Time Needed For Shooting Trial In Quesnel

The Supreme Court trial for a Quesnel man, the accused in a shooting, will resume next month.

49-year old Kelvin Alphonse is due back in court on July 4th.

His trial, which began back on May 30th, was originally scheduled for three weeks but more time was needed.

Alphonse is facing six charges in total, including Pointing a Firearm, Careless Use of a Firearm and Discharging a Firearm with Intent to Wound or Disfigure.

Police were called to the Red Bluff reserve back in January of 2016.

RCMP say they were responding to a complaint of shots fired and upon arrival they located a 38-year old female.

Police say she was taken to hospital in Vancouver in serious condition.
