Williams Lake Lab Assistant Starts Up Business Offering Blood Collection Service

A medical laboratory assistant with more than 30 years of experience at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake is offering mobile blood collection services.

“I’m doing it on my own, but I have had a lot of support from my co-worker here and we’ve just been trying to put it together,” says Barb Wormell of Cariboo Mobile Blood Collections.

“It’s overwhelming, but hopefully it will come together and I’ve just made some business cards that I will be distributing next week at hopefully the doctor’s offices and the pharmacy.”

Wormell says although she hasn’t had any clients yet, she is hopeful that people will find that this a great opportunity for them.

“Over the years I’ve seen people struggling coming into the hospital, trying to find transportation, dealing with their immune system, maybe they can’t get off work and they don’t know how long they’re going to be waiting, maybe they’re working hours that they come in,” she says.

“I just believe it’s really important to get your blood tests done.”

For further information you can contact Wormell on Facebook or email [email protected]
