Voting For Expansion on Saturday

The debate on the South Cariboo recreation Expansion will come to an end tomorrow with the referendum vote.

Total cost for the expansion project is 14.2 million dollars. The referendum, if passed will allow the Cariboo Regional District to borrow ten million of the cost. The rest would be raised through grants and corporate donations.

The expansion plans include a walking track, an indoor artificial grass field, a gymnasium, along with dressing rooms and multipurpose spaces.

The expansion has been a controversial subject in the area, with some area residents still in favour of a pool, or repurposing the former Junior High school as a community center

Polling stations are located at the District of 100 Mile House council chambers, the 108 Mile elementary School, Forest Grove Community Hall, and the Lone Butte Community hall. The polls open at 8 am and close at 8 pm.

More information on the vote can be found on the CRD website here or calling (250) 392-3351 or 1-800-665-1636

The BX Morning Show

I first got into radio when I was a kid when a friend and I made our own radio shows on cassete tapes. Growing up in 100 Mile House, I did a workstudy at this very station.

Thanks to some good advice from my radio mentor Larry Rode, I got a certificate in broadcast arts in 1991. After failing to break into radio after school, I did other jobs but kept my hand in, working as morning host and program director at my universitys station, WUFK in Fort Kent, Maine.

Coming back to 100 Mile, when the afternoon and news job opened up, I took the dive back into radio! When Larry retired after nearly 35 years in 100 Mile, I took over the morning show. I’m happy to be at CKBX, where I always wanted to work, and waking up my hometown!

Tune-in with Chris weekday mornings from 6am to 10am
