Pair Arrested Following Theft at 70 Mile House and Police Pursuit Make First Court Appearance

A man and woman appeared in Williams Lake Provincial Court Friday morning to fix a date following an RCMP pursuit Wednesday after they crashed their truck at 70 Mile House and stole the vehicle of a good Samaritan who stopped to offer assistance.

28-year-old Gerald Oscar Pierce and 35-year-old Carmen Marie McDonald have both been charged with possession of stolen property.

Pierce is also charged with one count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Alberta Media Relations RCMP Cpl. Chris Warren confirmed to MYCARIBOONOW that warrants for arrest were issued for both Pierce and McDonald in relation to an armed robbery at Rycroft, Alberta.

Spirit River RCMP said on June 1 it was dispatched to an armed robbery at a gas station where an individual had been shot in the leg.

“Investigation determined that the female suspect pointed a long barreled rifle at the victim while the male suspect removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register,” stated a release.

“Suspects departed in a late model Ford F-150.”
