Blaze Quickly Extinguished

100 Mile Fire/Rescue responded to a fire in a duplex on Evergreen Crescent Wednesday afternoon.

The call came in about 3 pm,  with fire, ambulance, police and gas personnel responding, as well as Emergency Support Services personnel. Deputy chief Brandon Bougie says that upon arrival there was light smoke coming from the building.

Damage was contained in the kitchen of the suite, and did not spread into the adjoining home. Two people were taken to 100 mile Hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation. Bougie says “We quickly extinguished the fire. The kitchen suffered most of the fire damage.”

Evergreen Crescent was closed down while emergency services extinguished the blaze and vented the smoke from the building.

Bougie says the cause is unknown at this time and the investigation is underway.
