44 Year Old Crashes Vehicle into Front Yard Residence

A 44-year-old male is being held pending an assessment under the Mental Health Act after uttering threats to RCMP and crashing a vehicle into a front yard residence.
100 Mile RCMP responded to the incident after being dispatched to a report of a possibly suicidal male who left his residence in a van.
While responding to this RCMP received another call that the same male had crashed a van into the front yard residence in the 5900 block of Highway 24 at Lone Butte.
Some residences were evacuated and a perimeter was set up as the male threatened he would ignite propane bottles should the police come for him.
“Typically when someone is having suicidal tendencies,” said Staff/Sgt. Blake Ward.
“They’re quite dangerous in that it’s hard to read what they are thinking and doing.”
Blake said the RCMP Emergency Response Team was activated when negotiations with the male suspect were unsuccessful.
At 10:50 pm the male suspect was arrested by the RCMP dog handler out of Williams Lake without incident. He was taken into custody with a number of charges being considered.
