CFSEU: Hard drugs, including fentanyl, on rise

Dramatic increases in hard drugs are being seen across Northern and Central B.C.

Sergeant Lindsey Houghton, with the province’s Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit, calls Wednesday’s results of a seven-month-long investigation involving a Chilliwack-based drug cell operating majority of it’s alleged drug trafficking activities in communities from Williams Lake to as far north as Fort St. John, as an example of this.

Houghton says fentanyl is 100 times more toxic than other narcotics and adds that it has been associated with 25% of deaths involving drug use across the province last year.

The $5 million dollar bust which included the seizure of weapons has resulted in the arrests of several people.
