Province and BC Wildfire lift off road vehicle ban in the South Cariboo

The Off-Road Vehicle Prohibition in 100 Mile House and the South Cariboo has been lifted.

The BC Wildfire Service and the Crown rescinded the prohibition, effective at noon today, August 28.

The ban on off-road vehicles was put in place earlier this month to help prevent new wildfires from igniting.

The lift covers all-terrain vehicles, motorbikes, and off-road side-by-side vehicles.

BC Wildfire says recent precipitation across the South Cariboo has reduced wildfire risks enough to lift the ban.

However, the Service says there are still out-of-control wildfires in the South Cariboo, and conditions can change quickly.

Category 1, 2, and 3 campfire bans are still in effect across the Cariboo Fire Centre.
