Lumber spill closed Highway 24 for one day

A single-vehicle accident resulted in a mess on Highway 24 near Roe Lake.

100 Mile House RCMP say they attended the scene of an accident with Emergency Health Services (EHS) on Monday, August 17, where a semi-truck and trailer had gone off the road at a corner.

Police say the crash dumped the truck’s haul of lumber onto the highway, which closed one lane of the highway.

The truck sustained heavy damage, and EHS attended to a single occupant who was later transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.

EHS says they believed the injuries were non-life-threatening.

Police say the load of lumber blocked the highway lane until Tuesday afternoon.

The Commercial Safety Vehicle Enforcement was also called in to assist with the Police’s investigation into the crash.

Police say speed is believed to have been a factor in the crash, though the incident is still under investigation.
