100 Mile’s Emergency Room closed two more times over upcoming weekend

The 100 Mile General Hospital’s Emergency Room will be closed almost 10 more times than it was all of last year.

Interior Health announced two more Emergency Department (ED) closures on Friday, August 7, and Sunday, August 9.

The ED will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on both Friday and Sunday. This brings the total number of closures in the District up to 36 times within eight months of 2026.

Interior Health says during the time of the closures, patients in need of emergency care will have to access it at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake.

All other inpatient services at 100 Mile District General will continue.

Anyone in need of life-threatening care should call 911 to be transported to the nearest available and appropriate facility.

The Health Authority also advises that if anyone is unsure whether an emergency room visit is warranted can call HealthLink BC at 811, or visit HealthLinkBC’s website for non-emergency health information from nurses, dietitians and pharmacists 24 hours a day, seven days per week.

The ED at 100 Mile District General was closed 27 times throughout all of 2025.
