The order was issued “due to the immediate danger to life safety caused by the wildfire” in the area.
Kat Chatten, the Manager of Communications with the CRD, says there are approximately 7 houses in the area, and that most of the people impacted are likely involved in some form of recreation out there.
A declaration of a State of Local Emergency was also declared on Wednesday, pursuant to Section 95 of the Emergency and Disaster Management Act due to a wildfire within Electoral Area I.
The Bourgeois Creek wildfire is listed as 300 hectares in size and is out of control.
