Wildfire Southwest of 100 Mile House classified as being held

BC Wildfire Service personnel made progress on an out of control wildfire that was discovered yesterday (Wednesday) South West of 100 Mile House.

Fire Information Officer Karley Desrosiers said as of this morning (July 9) the Valenzuela Lake fire 1.2 kilometres east of Copper Johnny Creek is classified as being held.

“It was mapped last night as 35 hectares. Heavy equipment worked through the night to establish a containment line around the perimeter and crews are on site again today to continue to extinguish hot spots.”

Desrosiers said overall the weather conditions overnight were conducive to pretty minimal fire behaviour so it’s not expected to grow beyond the current perimeter.”

Yesterday BC Wildfire Service responded to the Valenzuela Lake wildfire with crews along with support from helicopters, air tankers and heavy equipment.
