Kittens from Terrace receiving care in Prince George

Five 11-week-old kittens are recovering with a foster in Prince George for better care after being moved from Terrace.

The B.C. SPCA said a family took their four adult cats to a Spay/Neuter Your Pet (SNYP) days program in Terrace, where the community services team learned they were struggling to care for the five kittens from an earlier accidental litter they were planning to rehome.

Despite the absence of an animal centre in the city, B.C. SPCA teams from across the region worked together to get the kittens into care.

“Some of the more remote areas in the province, especially our Northern communities, often feel underserved and under resourced.” said Jamey Blair, senior manager, Community Services.

“The B.C. SPCA established a regional community services team in late 2025 to grow local connections so both vulnerable people and vulnerable animals have access to the help they need, especially where we don’t have a physical animal centre to turn to.”

The SNYP was an expansion pilot to help remote communities through a partnership between the B.C. SPCA’s Cariboo and North regional community services team, Northern Health, and the ‘Ksan Society in Terrace.

All five kittens were spayed and neutered at the PG Spay Neuter Clinic, and will be available for adoption in the coming days.
