Williams Lake police officer injured in the line of duty

A police officer was injured in Williams Lake over the weekend.
Corporal Brett Urano, Media Relations Officer with BC RCMP Communications Services, says the officer was responding to a serious accident on Highway 97 when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed.
“The vehicle rolled and went down an embankment. Emergency responders attended the scene and provided immediate assistance to the officer, who was transported to hospital for assessment and treatment.”
Urano says the officer has since been released from hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
Staff Sergeant Brad McKinnon was very appreciative of the help the officer received.
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the first responders, members of the public, and all of the healthcare staff at Cariboo Memorial Hospital who assisted our officer during and after this incident. The care, professionalism, and support shown throughout the event were greatly appreciated by our officer, their family, and the entire detachment.”
The Highway was closed in both directions for a period of time.
Urano says early indications suggest that weather and road conditions may have been contributing factors in the accident.
