Planned power outage July 4th expected to affect about 1600 customers

BC Hydro crews will be busy this weekend.

Community Relations Coordinator for Northern BC, Dave Mosure, said tomorrow (July 4) from approximately 7 am to an estimated 7 pm from the Southern tip of Quesnel to the Northern tip of Williams Lake is going to be without power.

“BC Hydro is doing some necessary maintenance work on the big transmission line that feeds the area and we’re taking advantage of that and doing a bunch of maintenance within the three sub stations that are fed by that transmission line. That’s specifically the Marguerite, Gavin Lake, and Soda Creek sub stations. It’s necessary work, we know there’s no good time for a power outage but we do need to maintain the system.”

Mosure said in this case it’s going to impact approximately 1600 customers.

“The communities we have listed shown as Mcleese Lake, Soda Creek, 150 Mile House, Big Lake, Horsefly, and Likely. All customers should have received a notification of some sort. That could be an automated telephone call, it could be an email, or it could be an old fashion post card in the mail.”

Mosure added if you didn’t receive anything or you have a question as to whether you’re impacted, give BC Hydro a call at 1-800-224-9376.
