Williams Lake Mayor said he’ll run for re-election

The Mayor of Williams Lake announced his plans for the upcoming Municipal Elections this Fall.

Surinderpal Rathor told a small gathering outside of City Hall yesterday afternoon what his intentions were.

“A lot of people have been asking me what I’m going to do this Fall and it wasn’t an easy decision. Today we stand together and we focus on what is ahead of us. I’m not going to talk about what we achieved but what we are going to achieve in the future. That is why today June 24) I am announcing that I am running for re-election as Mayor of Williams Lake.”

Rathor said over the past term. Council has strengthened relationships within the community and across the province and country, including with First Nations governments, Cariboo Regional District, School District 27, Interior Health, and the provincial and federal governments.

“Since 2022, we have implemented our Official Community Plan that will guide us over the coming years,” Rathor said, “Williams Lake deserves services and infrastructure that serve our residents like our indoor multiplex, improved active transportation, and a new elementary school.”

Rathor said we need a team leader, a team player, that can continue leading the Council in the right direction by building our relations.

“Now everybody knows what I’m going to do, I’ll be running, I’ll throw my hat in the ring to be your team leader and I respectful request you to give me one more term to lead this community, lead this team in Williams Lake so we can have a better future for us and for our children to come.”
