Major sanitary and storm replacement project approved by Quesnel City Council

The Vaughan Street Sanitary and Storm Replacement project has now formally been approved by Quesnel City Council.
Chris Coben, the Director of Capital Works & Infrastructure, went over the details at Tuesday (May 5) night’s meeting.
“The Vaughan Street sewer project includes replacement and upsizing 100 meters of the existing storm sewer main on Vaughan Street as well as replacement of a sanitary sewer main on the 300 block of Vaughan Street and in the lane north of the West Fraser Centre.”
Knappett Industries out of Nanaimo was awarded the contract to do the work.
“Two tenders were received for this project and the lowest that meets the submission requirements is in the amount of $676,068 plus GST. Funding for this project was approved in the 2026 capital budget and the bid is within the project budget.”
It will be paid for using money from the capital reinvestment reserve and sewer reserves.
Council policy states that all goods and services over $500,000 require formal Council approval.
