Red Cross On the Move From Boitanio Mall In Williams Lake

The Canadian Red Cross Wildfire Recovery Support Center in Williams Lake will be on the move from Boitanio Mall this month.

“The location at the mall is currently open Monday to Thursday from 9 until 4, and then on Fridays from 9 until noon,” says communications officer Melinda Paplawski.

“They are seeing people on an appointment basis at this point, and then the mall location will be moving. As of April 16th that will be the first day in the new location at 510 Broadway Avenue North.”

Paplawski says that the hours at their new location will remain the same.

She says although they are seeing a shift in terms of less volume they are doing more involved work including one-on-one with those who were affected by the fires.

“The Red Cross will be Williams Lake until there is no longer a need. That could be in a few months, that could be in a few years.”

(Editor’s Note: Listen to Paplawski in the audio file below talk about the services the Wildfire Recovery Support Center is providing in Williams Lake including Phase II funding for small businesses in which the deadline to apply is May 4, 2018)
