Food Bank to Open in Clinton

Clinton will be getting a food bank with a helping hand from 100 Mile House.

“Throughout the fires and that, actually the last couple of years we’ve been helping out Clinton quite a bit and the area down there,” says Bob Hicks, Executive Director of 100 Mile Food Bank.

“They were going to open up their own food bank but they don’t quite qualify and they don’t have the money to become a society. So what we decided to do was we would make them a satellite of our food bank.”

Hicks says he believes that they have up to 35 people on their distribution that drive up from Clinton and that it’s better if they can save the trip for the same services within their own community.

“If they can become a society within a year or a couple of years that’s fine then they can be food bank on their own standing, but if they can’t we’re going to be to help them,” he adds.

“Otherwise people are driving up here to see us anyway so it’s just common sense for us to donate some of the food that we receive via donation to them.”

Clinton’s Food Bank that will be located at Living Waters Church opens on April 3rd, 2018, and will have the same hours of operation as 100 Mile House.
