They’re Baaaack…..

Early spring weather has brought the dreaded 4 letter insect that feeds on the blood of both humans and animals-ticks!
Veterinarian Angela Gutzer with the Williams Lake Veterinarian Hospital, says although she has not personally seen any cases of animals contracting Lyme disease from ticks, tick paralysis is quite common.
Gutzer strongly recommends pet owners to check animals after any outdoor activities, with Interior Health meanwhile encouraging individuals to check themselves also.
Interior Health says although the tick species that carries Lyme disease is more common in the coastal areas of the province, they may also be present in low numbers in the Interior region.
Ticks are often found in tall grass and wooded areas.
