Electrician Assessing Cause of Crash Alarm Being Triggered At Williams Lake Airport

Electrical issues likely was the cause of the crash alarm having been triggered Thursday morning at the Williams Lake Airport.

“We just feel like it was a shortened relay,” says Gary Muraca, Director of Municipal Services.

“We’re investigating that right now and we have staff up there trying to troubleshoot and we hope to have it repaired by the end of the day. Right now it’s disconnected so it won’t go off again.”

The alarm went off at 4 am and likely could have been heard in Pine Valley and Wildwood according to Muraca.

“We can’t think of any time that it has happened,” he says.

“There have been some electrical issues in the winter we had some lights out on the runway. I think it’s more attributed to the moisture, the melting, and the snow that’s getting into some of our pole boxes and shorting out some of our electrical equipment.”
