Wells By-election Date Set

Wells residents will chose a new Mayor on June 9th.

The District has announced that date for a by-election to not only chose a replacement for Robin Sharpe, who resigned last month, but also for Councillor Lorraine Kozar, who stepped down as well.

Councillor Birch Kuch is currently the acting Mayor until April 1st and then Mandy Kilsby will take over that roll until a replacement is chosen.

An advance vote for the by-election will take place on May 30th.

Former Mayor Sharpe, in announcing his resignation, said that “he no longer wants to be part of such a negative situation, adding that over the past year the negative attitude of a certain portion of the community has poisoned the workings of Council.”
