Doherty Disappointed With 2018 Federal Budget

The 2018 federal budget announcement has left some conservatives worried about the future of Canadians.

Finance Minister Bill Morneau brought forward the “Equality and Growth” budget in parliament, which will see a deficit of $18.1 billion, including a $3 billion “risk adjustment”.

The liberals didn’t announce any tax cuts, nor did they announce any new tax hikes. Something Cariboo – Prince George MP Todd Doherty says does nothing to create jobs.

Bill Morneau

“I’ve seen nothing in this document that is going to create opportunities for Canada where our communities and our rural communicates. Where Canadian business is competitive. Where foreign industry wants to invest in our country.”

Doherty added it’s our children who will suffer the most from all this spending, with the liberals planning on going deeper in the red without a timeline to get back to black.

“It’s astronomical. It’s really truly concerning when we’re looking at a trillion dollars in debt in a very short period of time with no plans to get back to a balanced budget whatsoever.”

Doherty says it will be interesting in the coming days as the Conservatives take a closer look at the budget.

The full budget can be found here.
