Era of Megafires Presentation to Return to the Cariboo

A unique learning event to reflect on the causes of wildfires and explore solutions for the future will be making a return to the Cariboo.

The Era of Megafires presentation will be held in 100 Mile, Williams Lake, and Quesnel next month.

“We had a landscape symposium in October and from that meeting, it was decided to have Dr. Paul Hessburg brought up,” says Gail Lucier, administrative coordinator for the Cariboo Chilcotin Beetle Action Coalition.

The Era of Mega Fire event was brought to 100 Mile House and Williams Lake through the South Cariboo Sustainability Society and the Cariboo Chilcotin Conservation Society last November attracting a large turnout.

The free evening will have a special film presentation by Dr Hessburg, a research landscape ecologist with Pacific Northwest (PNW) Research Station followed by a live presentation and Q&A with fire ecologist Bob Gray.
