Chamber Week Celebrated in Williams Lake

An open house took place Friday at the Williams Lake Tourism Discovery Centre to celebrate Chamber Week.

“Celebrating Chamber Week is important because it shows the business community that the Chamber is for the small businesses and the businesses in Williams Lake,” says Jaylyn Byer, executive assistant of the Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce.

“We are the voice of business and having a Chamber Week just shows that the Chamber does get out and does a few things.”

Byer says Friday’s open house attracted about 30 individuals including Williams Lake Mayor and Council, and Chair and Directors of the Cariboo Regional District. Economic Development Officer for the City of Williams Lake, Beth Veenkamp was also on hand to present funds to two successful applicants of the Seeding Start-Ups.

The Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce will be holding their next general meeting on March 29.

“We are in the process of getting ready for the 23rd Business Excellence Awards that will take place in October,” adds Byer.

“Nominations should be available beginning of April.”
