WLFD Reminding Public Of their Role in Keeping Fire Hydrants Clear of Snow

The Williams Lake Fire Department is asking all homeowners not to deposit excess snow around fire hydrants.

“What’s happening is we’ve got some fire hydrants that are fairly close to driveways and people have been piling up snow around them, and we can barely see them,” says Deputy Fire Chief Rob Warnock.

“It makes it harder for us to find in case of an emergency-we don’t want to be looking for the hydrants.”

City crews according to a media release are currently in the process of clearing around hydrants in the industrial and downtown areas.

If you have any questions regarding this requirement you can contact Warnock at (250) 392- 1778 or [email protected]
