Williams Lake Man To Go To Trial On Weapons Charges

A trial date has been set for a Williams Lake man who is facing several weapons-related charges.

37-year old Jason Smith is due back in Supreme Court on September 10th.

He’s charged with two counts of Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm, Unauthorized Possession in a Vehicle, Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition and Careless Storage of a Firearm.

Smith was arrested back in April of 2017.

Williams Lake RCMP say they pulled a vehicle over and discovered a number of illegal items, including a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

Initially four people were taken into custody but charges were only laid against Smith.
