Quesnel Mounties Get Their Man With An Assist From Man’s Best Friend

Quesnel RCMP say a patrolling officer observed a vehicle that was reported stolen from Prince George near G.R. Baker Hospital in Quesnel at around 11-30 this morning.

The driver then noticed the officer and took off at a high rate of speed.

Police say the officer alerted other members in the area but they did not engage in a pursuit.

The stolen vehicle was then located a short time later at the end of a dead end street.

Officers set up containment of the area and called in a police dog from Prince George.

RCMP say the police dog handler and the dog were able to track the suspect, who was located hiding under a tarp inside an outbuilding less than 100 meters from where the vehicle was located.

The man was arrested and police say he suffered minor injuries in relation to the confrontation with the police dog.

RCMP say the man is known to police and that charges are pending.
