Women’s Contact Society To Hold Noon Hour Workshop on Eating Disorder Awareness

The Women’s Contact Society will be holding a eating disorder awareness workshop over the noon hour Tuesday.

“Every month we hold different clinics-they’re called noon hour presentations. They’re sponsored by Shoppers Drug Mart and we have different presenters come and talk about different health related topics,” says receptionist Lisa Anderson.

“This month will be our own counsellor Eva Navrot and she will be doing a presentation on eating disorders.”

Navrot according to Anderson will talk about identifying behaviors, the different types of eating disorders, as well as resources,treatment, and prevention.

The free event which you need to RSVP by for by contacting the Society at 250-392-4118, will also have free lunch available.

Approximately 3% of women according to Health Canada will be affected by an eating disorder during their lifetime.

Man arrested and firearms seized in Lac La Hache

RCMP arrested one man, Terrance Southern, in Lac La Hache, and seized a significant amount of firearms and stolen property on Oct. 20. Police say the stolen property has links to escalted property crimes in the area.
