District gets money back for playground upgrades

The District of 100 Mile House has some more money to put back into Centennial Park.

It had received a grant from the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development, but didn’t use it all in completing the bridge and trail upgrades from last year in Centennial Park.

As Mayor Mitch Campsall explains, they returned the unused money but were told they could keep it if it would benefit the community, which it will in the form of new playground equipment.

He says the new equipment is all CSA approved and will be an upgrade in safety from what is there now.

On keeping the park maintained, Campsall had this to say:

The additional work will cost about $35,000, $27,099 of which will come from the province. That equates to about 77%. The District approved a $10,000 dollar amendment to their 2014 capital plan Tuesday to accommodate the extra costs which for them means $7,901.

The new CSA approved equipment is being purchased from a company called Swing Time out of North Vancouver and another called Blue Imp in Medicine Hat.
