Increased fire risk has Fire Centre urging caution

With the majority of the region snow-free, the Cariboo Fire Centre is urging caution with outdoor burning.
Emily Koch, Fire Information Officer with the Centre, says there is an increased wildfire risk in the region.

Koch says anyone wishing to light an open fire must watch for changing weather conditions and follow all burning regulations in order to reduce the number of preventable wildfires.

The BC Forest Fire Information Centre says there have already been reports of human-caused and therefore preventable fires, with the Southeast Fire Centre responding to four new wildfires on Monday- two being the result of poor open burning planning.
