A proposal to create a new series of art murals showing how the game of hockey has impacted the development of Williams Lake was presented to mayor and council last night.
Lake City artist Dwayne Davis proposed to paint a series of three moveable panel pieces featuring the Alkali Braves, one of the first teams in the Cariboo area who evolved into the Williams Lake Stampeders.
Davis will also paint panels depicting the early years of the Williams Lake Stampeders and a third of the Williams Lake Mustangs who had one player, Craig Berube go onto the NHL as a player then a head coach.
Two of the three murals will be ready when Rogers Hometown Hockey comes to the Lake City in january, afterwards all three will then be permanently displayed at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex.
