Flare-ups Persist at Tolko’s Lakeview Sawmill

Work continues to assess the fire damage at the Lakeview Sawmill which started Thursday evening.

Communications advisor with Tolko, Janice Lockyer has this update.

“The sawmill will be closed until we can assess the damage and see what needs to be done to put a recovery plan in place. However our planer will operate, we had initially thought it would go today and I’m not sure that’s still the case, safety is our first priority obviously”.

Lockyer said they need to make sure that the site is safe and secured and that their employees can head back to work without worry and would like to thank the Williams Lake and area fire crews who responded to the fire.

She went on to say they done a great job and have been wonderful in the work that they’ve  done to help get the fire under control, get it out and now to help control the flare-ups.
