Halloween Fireworks Tonight

The City of Williams Lake is just one of the many communities across the Cariboo that will be concluding the spookiest night of the year with fireworks.

Tonight marks the 38th Annual Halloween Fireworks Show taking place at the Stampede Grounds.

“The reason that the Halloween fireworks started was to allow parents to have another venue to go to so the kids wouldn’t end up trick or treating all night,” said recreation coordinator Densie Skarra.

“So they felt that if we had something to go to then they would come and watch the fireworks and then head home.”

Skarra said they will be lighting a bonfire with firewood donated by Tolko at 7 pm with the fireworks starting at 7:45.

The Lions Club will once again be providing the sale of hot dogs and hot chocolate with the Williams Lake Fire Department preparing the show and performing the task of bonfire clean-up.

The RCMP’s local Community Policing Volunteers will also be on hand to assist with the managing of security and traffic.
