Wildfire Recovery Team Announced For North Cariboo

A Wildfire Recovery Team is now in place for the North Cariboo.

Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson says a team of four local contractors are now working to help them to better understand the impacts that this summer’s fire season had on businesses, not for profit organizations and some of the sectors that depend on the landbase…

“To do an assessment by getting directly out to all of these businesses and sectors of what the actual impact is, also communicate to all those individuals and businesses what current programs exist to assist them through the current process and then to help us to shape the government’s longer term response to the wildfires.”

Simpson says they asked to lead this process, feeling that a local response would match the real needs of people better than someone down in Victoria.

The team will be located at Spirit Square on St. Laurent Avenue in Quesnel.

Erin Robinson is the Recovery Manager, Tracey Bond is the Urban Recovery Coordinator, Garry Horley is the Rural Recovery Coordinator and Charlene Lawrence has the role of Recovery Team Support.
